21-year-old girl arrested for livestreaming sex

Aizawl: Cyber Police in Aizawl apprehended a 21-year-old woman for live-streaming explicit content on her Instagram account alongside another individual.

The arrest followed a complaint, prompting the Cyber Police to initiate an investigation on September 26. After thorough examination, police located and detained the young woman at a rehabilitation center where she was residing.

This incident comes on the heels of previous actions taken by the Cyber Police, which culminated in the arrest of a man and a woman for the transmission of sexually explicit material on social media platforms.

Mizoram Police are alarmed by the surge in instances of social media misuse, including the posting of obscene and sexually explicit images and videos. These actions are seen as detrimental to the moral fabric of society and constitute serious criminal offenses under Section 67A of the Information Technology Act of 2000, carrying penalties of up to five years of imprisonment.

The ongoing investigations in both cases are aimed at uncovering all pertinent facts and electronic evidence.

The Mizoram Police would like to emphasise that publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form is a clear violation of Section 67/67A of the IT Act, 2000. The public is strongly cautioned against engaging in such activities on social media platforms, as stringent measures will be enforced to address any violations.
