Central YMA leaders visit wounded cadres of Myanmar defence forces

Aizawl: Leaders of the central committee of Young Mizo Association (YMA), the apex Mizo body on Tuesday visited eight people who were injured in the clashes between the Myanmar army and the combine force of Kachin Independent Army (KIA), Chin National Army (CNA) and the armed civilian resistance group called Chin Defence Force (CDF) from Sunday night till Monday evening.

The injured cadres of the KIA, CNA and CDF combine are referred to and admitted in 2 private hospitals in Mizoram’s capital Aizawl city while 12 others are being treated at Mizoram-Myanmar border Champhai district hospital.

The YMA team was headed by its president Lalhmachhuana while visiting the injured cadres and handed Rs 5,000 to each of the patients.

The injured people are brought to Aizawl on Monday from Champhai district hospital.

They were injured in the attacks on 2 camps of the Myanmar army in Khawmawi and Rihkhawdar villages situated just across the Mizoram soil from Sunday evening till Monday evening. The two camps were overran and captured by the combine force and set them on fire.

At least seven cadres of the joint force were killed in the attacks while the casualties on the Myanmar army side, are not yet ascertained. 

A 52-year-old Myanmar refugee taking shelter in Mizoram-Myanmar border Zokhawthar village was the victim of stray bullets fired from Myanmar side.
