Aizawl: Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) on Monday urged state Chief Minister Zoramthanga to attend the meeting convened by the NDA in Delhi on Tuesday and voices his strong condemnation on the NDA government’s handling of Manipur crisis.

In a press statement issued in Aizawl, the MPYCC implored Zoramthanga to attend the NDA to condemn the sufferings of Kuki-Zomi tribal community in strife-torn neighbouring state.

“We demand that the Chief Minister should speak out at the NDA meeting to criticise NDA government for not taking any measures to mitigate the sufferings of our kindred brothers in Manipur,” the statement said.

The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) being a constituent of the NDA, Zoramthanga, who is the President of the MNF, should voice his condemnation of the silence of the central government on Manipur violence, it said.

The MPYCC also urged the CM to ask the Prime Minister to break his silence and make efforts to bring peace immediately in saffron party-ruled Manipur.

As over 250 Christian church buildings have been burned or vandalized in the neighbouring state, the RSS being in the background cannot be ruled out, the statement said, adding that the CM should raise his voice courageously about religious freedom in the NDA meeting.
