IBITF and Mizoram University join hands to foster Innovation in Northeast

Aizawl: The Innovation and Technology Foundation at IIT Bhilai (IBITF) and Mizoram University (MZU) have joined forces to kickstart the ‘Fintech Ignite’ workshop, a groundbreaking three-day initiative aimed at driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the fintech sector across northeastern India. This collaborative effort underscores both institutions’ dedication to harnessing fintech’s potential for positive change in the region.

The ‘Fintech Ignite’ workshop, operating under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) banner, overseen by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) GoI, aims to empower faculty members and students to innovate and create solutions that can revolutionise the fintech landscape in the region.

Key Objectives:

Facilitating Direct Collaboration: The workshop offers a platform for faculty members and students in northeastern India to directly engage with IBITF through Mizoram University, enabling them to transform fintech-related ideas into reality with support and resources.

Identifying Regional Solutions: The initiative seeks to address local challenges using fintech-based solutions, particularly focusing on improving the lives of tribal communities, with capable faculty members, including those from the Schedule Tribe community, overseeing these projects.

Promoting Entrepreneurship: ‘Fintech Ignite’ aims to foster successful fintech ventures and job opportunities for the region’s youth, serving as a convergence point for knowledge, academia, industry, and innovation to nurture the next generation of fintech leaders.

Throughout the three-day workshop, participants from various educational institutions, faculty members, students, government agencies, and industry representatives will explore fintech’s vast potential in northeastern India. The event will feature diverse sessions designed to ignite passion for fintech and provide information about available support mechanisms for Northeast’s faculty and students.

Prof. Santosh Biswas, Project Director and CEO of IBITF, reaffirmed his team’s commitment to assisting faculty members and students in developing and evaluating their proposals. Qualified proposals may be considered for funding (up to 50 Lakhs) through IBITF, subject to a thorough evaluation process involving external assessment by academia, industry, and government experts.

The ‘Fintech Ignite’ workshop encourages all participants to actively engage, network, and capitalize on the opportunities presented during these three days. The ideas and contributions generated during the workshop are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of fintech solutions in northeastern India.
