A ‘Zo’ ethnic man, injured in clashes in Manipur was referred to North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) by Aizawl Civil Hospital authorities.
The man, his name not revealed, was injured in armed clashes between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities at Kangvai village in Lamka (Churachanpur) district of Manipur on June 15.
SLR bullet pierced through his left thigh and had been treated at a hospital in Lamka.
As his condition failed to improve, he was brought to Aizawl on Wednesday and admitted in the Civil Hospital with the initiative of the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA).
Doctors at the Civil Hospital in Aizawl suggested that he should be treated in NEIGRIHMS or in Guwahati though they could treat him in Aizawl.
It was decided that the injured person should be send to NEIGRIHMS on the same day and left Aizawl for Shillong on the night of Wednesday.
The YMA leaders gave Rs. 18,000 to the drivers of the ambulance for fuel and food expenses while they also gave Rs 10,000 to the injured person.
It was reported that he is recuperating in NEIGRIHMS.
