Mizoram launches 2 DTH TV channels to enhance education

Mizoram School Education minister Lalchhandama Ralte launches two DTH TV channels from his office

Aizawl: School Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte on Saturday launched two PM eVIDYA DTH TV Channels for Mizoram to enhance children’s learning experience at home.

The programme coincides with the launching of over 200 television channels exclusively for students by the Ministry of Education on Saturday.

The central government has been making efforts to ensure that students across the country can avail the same education through the television channels under ‘One Class One TV channel’ programme.

The state is going to have two channels, one channel dedicated to elementary level called ‘Zirna Kailawn or Learning Ladder’ and the second one for Secondary level called ‘Zirna Lamtluang or Learning Pathway’. Both the two educational channels – PM eVIDYA MZ128 and PM eVIDYA MZ129 will be telecasted through DTH TV as well as Youtube channels.

Telecast of the two educational channels will be in the hands of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), which has been appointed as the State Coordinating Agency.

Ralte, while underlining the importance of the educational television channels said that it was an important milestone for the entire country in general and for the state of Mizoram in particular for improvement of education and delivery of educational materials to the students.

As the same education will be reaching out to both the urban and rural areas in vernacular language, the TV channels will go a long way in improvement of education in the state, he said.
